Lunugala Pradeshiya Sabha

A new pradeshiya sabha was established from Passara pradeshiya sabha in the name of Lunugala pradeshiya sabha by special gazette No. 1672/8 dated 01.04.2011 and 21.09.2009. Consisting of 28 grama niladhari divisions, this pradeshiya sabha area is 142.7 square kilometers bordered by Meegahakivula Divisional Secretariat Division, Badalkumbura Divisional Secretariat Division, Passara Divisional Secretariat and Bibila Divisional Secretariat Division. Major cultivation in paddy farming and other agricultural crops, the area is mostly self-sufficient in tea cultivation. The people of Sinhalese, Muslims, Tamils live giving primary importance to the gem industry and it is a special sign that the people live in harmony with all religions who follow Buddhism, Islam and Hinduism religiously.
