Lunugala divisional area in Badulla district of Uva province is bordered by Bibila, Medagama in Monaragala district and Meegahakivula and Passara divisional secretariat divisions in Badulla district. Considering the topographical features of the division, the highlands range from 500 to 4500 feet above sea level, and more than 50% of the total land area of the region is steep terrain.
Historical information and folklore seem to be very important to explore information about the name of Lunugala and birth of the area for Lunugala local council area. In addition to the name Lunugala, this area is also known as Pattipola Koralaya. Both the names are a result of the same thing, traders used this area to trade their salt in the past. The area, which was the exchange center of the salt trade, has been referred to as Lunugala. Also, due to the fact that cattle used for transporting salt are herded in herds, it has also been used as pattipola.

Public Health
Conduct and regulate necessary inspections to maintain public health and hygiene by inspecting food and beverage shops within the area of the local council.
Issuance of certificates of conformity
This certificate is issued to indicate that a building has been constructed in accordance with the approved building plan. Once the building is constructed, this must be obtained from the pradeshiya sabha before residence in.
Garbage Disposal
A large number of workers and tractors have been deployed to keep the area clean and hygienic by carrying out the disposal of collected garbage in the area of the local council.
Library Service
The Lunugala library is managed by the Lunugala pradeshiya sabha with the aim of developing the reading ability of people in the area and this library will be operated as a first class library.
